What is OneAtlas Analytics?

The OneAtlas Analytics is a subset of the OneAtlas services, dedicated to extract advanced insights from Airbus imagery. It is based on a rich library of image analytics to automatically extract information from OneAtlas images:

Available now- Cars, Trucks, Ships *, Aircraft, and Infrastructures Change Detection *.

Coming soon- Land use, Land use Change, Armored vehicles.

It can be accessed through three digital modes:

API- to integrate analytics feeds in your own application.

Analytics Toolbox portal- to interactively run analytics on selected OneAtlas images, get result in minutes.

Earth Monitor portal- to create and run multi-temporal monitoring projects, and get advanced insights: multi-temporal counts, alerts..

*only available in the Analytics Toolbox portal and through API.

Which algorithms do you provide?

AnalyticsDescriptionAnalytics ToolboxEarth Monitor
CarsThis analytics detects cars and small utility vehicles.
Source imagery: Pléiades
Process type: fully automatic
Classification: None
YesYes
TrucksThis analytics detects commercial trucks, trailer trucks and buses.
Source imagery: Pléiades
Process type: fully automatic
Classification: None
YesYes
ShipsThis analytics detects ships at sea. It is not suited for ships parked close to each other in a harbor or marina. The size of detected ships is down to 20 meters (ships between 10 meters and 20 meters can also be detected but with a lower precision.
Source imagery: Pléiades or SPOT 6/7
Process type: fully automatic
Classification: None
YesNo
Aircraft (beta version)This analytics detects carrier aircraft, helicopters, fighter aircraft and small aircraft.
Source imagery: Pléiades
Process type: fully automatic
Classification: 4 classes are available

Infrastructures change detection without quality controlThis analytics is trained to :
- detect “infrastructures changes”
- ignore mobile objects (vehicles, ships, etc…) as well as natural or seasonal vegetation change. In this fully automatic mode, the algorithm may include a significant fraction of “false positives”
Source imagery: Pléiades or SPOT 6/7
Process type: fully automatic
Classification: None
Coming soonNo
Infrastructures change detection with quality controlIn this version, a human quality control is applied on the automatic change detection results in order to remove “false alarms” and thus ensure a high level of precision.
Source imagery: Pléiades or SPOT6/7
Process type: semi-automatic
Classification: None
YesNo

What is the accuracy of the OneAtlas analytics?

All analytics distributed on OneAtlas have been subject to extensive qualification testing. This qualification process is based on the comparison of each algorithm results to independent ground truth data and is applied on a large, diverse and worlwide distributed set of test cases to ensure full representativity.
All analytics distributed have reached high levels of recall and precision through this qualification process. These levels are in line with the best state of the art accuracy levels for such automated algorithms.

Specific case of “infrastructures change detection”

This analytics, when applied in fully automated mode may generate a signficant fraction of false positives and is thus to be considered as a decision help. This is the reason why we propose an option incorporating a human quality control to remove false alarms.

How can I access the OneAtlas Analytics offer?

Through the OneAtlas Portal, you can request for an analytics subscription, which will give you access to Analytics Toolbox and Earth Monitor, as well as API use.
Each subscription plan corresponds to a certain amount of euros that will be credited to your OneAtlas account. This amount of money will allow you ordering for your analytics with different level of services depending on the portal access you chose.
The pricing of the Analytics service is based on the surface analysed and the algorithms used. It is the same whether through Analytics Toolbox or Earth Monitor.

What are the differences between Analytics Toolbox and Earth Monitor?

Analytics Toolbox and Earth Monitor are complementary and will allow to respond to different use cases you may have:
- Analytics Toolbox allows you to very simply run one-shot analytics computation on a selected Living Library image, and get results in near real-time (minutes)
Example use case: Run change detection between two images of the same area, selected in OneAtlas Living Library

- Earth Monitor is a more sophisticated analytics portal which allows you to create and run multi-AOI and multi-temporal monitoring projects. It automates analytics computation over multiple AOIs and multiple time periods, in the past (historical analyses) or in the future (monitoring project).
Example use case: Monitor aircraft counts on all airports of a country, at monthly frequency. Get an alert above a specified threshold.

What is the minimum size of the AOIs?

There’s no limit in the AOI size, but there is a minimum charging price of 5km² per AOI.

What can I benefit from in a free trial of Analytics Toolbox?

You will benefit from 2 Change Detection already computed cases over San Jose and Hong Kong.

What is the price for each algorithm service?

The price computation is a function depending on the AOI size and the algorithm computation cost. Once selected an AOI and an algorithm, the price is automatically updated in the interface or via calling the API.

What is the typical time needed to achieve a computation?

It depends on the AOI size, the algorithm selected and the number of objects to count/detect. Typically it ranges from several minutes to a couple of hours.

Are the images cloud-free?

The images proposed in the framework of the OneAtlas Analytics service are the ones from the Living Library service. Thus, these images have been preselected, by taking into account a low cloud coverage. In both portals, it is possible to filter cloudy images.

Are there any radar-based analytics available in OneAtlas Analytics?

No, not currently.

I have a particular project need, for which neither Analytics Toolbox nor Earth Monitor are fully in line. What can I do?

Contact us and explain your application need. We can combine our internal capabilities including for instance dedicated Tasking program to ensure a specific monitoring need, and/or human analyst interpretation in complement of what we can get from our analytics, in order to deliver products fully in line with your need.

What are the recommendations to get best results from Infrastructures change detection?

Select images with low incidence angle to avoid false alarms due to different viewing angles, especially in cities with high buildings.
Preferably select a pair of images taken in the same season, to avoid high vegetation change.

Do OneAtlas Analytics make use of infrared/multispectral imagery or RGB only?

All algorithms mostly use only RGB only, except for the Land Use / Land Use Change Detection which takes into account the NIR band.

How can I view my Analytics results?

All your pending orders are gathered in the “Order Tracking” section. Once the computation is done, the results are available in the “MyData” section.
For the Change Detection algorithm, the interface allows you displaying the report in 3 different ways (Swipe view, Side by side view or Stacked view). The changes are drawn as polygons. Each time the 2 images and the change polygons can be displayed.

Can I task the satellite through the OneAtlas Analytics Toolbox Portal?

Analytics Toolbox allows only running the image analytics on Living Library images.

However, it is possible to task the satellite separately: this is done currently through the standard Geostore application, it is also a planned evolution to task directly through OneAtlas.

How can I download my analytics report(s) and corresponding images?

The reports can be downloaded in a GeoJSON format (for Analytics Toolbox) and CSV format (for Earth Monitor) via the interface or via the API (for Analytics Toolbox only). The images used as input for the analytics calculation can be viewed in the portal.
The analytics price does not include image download. To download the input image, go to Living Library.

What is the notion of “trigger”, or “alert” in Earth Monitor?

In Earth Monitor you can specify “alert criteria” per AOI, such as “number of aircraft greater than xx” or “change in the number of cars is greater than XX%. When the alert criteria are met you get a notification. This allows you to set-up “surveillances”.
